Research into Music Videos 1....

Hi everyone,

This is just some information about a music video, that I found interesting to watch and learn about, and I believe that this information will help me with my planning and final production process towards my finished music video:

After watching this YouTube clip I decided to go and watch the music video which I thought was really good and coincided with the genre of the music and the overall story-line to which the initial lyrics of the song entails.

This is the final music video which 'Film Riot' produced:

I think that the post-production editing with colour correction highly improved the overall image of the music video, and is definitely a technique that I will include within my final piece. I have already attempted this within my 1 minute music video, and I like the uplifting difference that it made to the overall look of my piece, especially when generating the visual aspect of the sunset.

Also, it was interesting to know how you can create a larger atmosphere on a budget, for instance lighting the fire created that extra effect and feel of a social gathering. Furthermore, the use of different shots, mostly mid-shots of the crowd allowed it to seem like there where more people than there actually was, which is interesting as the audience receives a completely different perception to what actually was happening in reality. This again proves how music videos link to Blumler and Katz's 'Uses of Gratifications theory' as the audience will watch music videos as a 'Diversion (escapism)' from reality and everyday life, because they find what they are watching more fun and exciting then reality.

Hope you enjoyed reading!

See you soon!
